Despite unfavourably hot weather and tough track conditions, Gardiner powered her Sherco 300SEF-R with her trademark style and aggression to finish the event in third place.
Gardiner fought severe arm-pump for the entire event but hung tough to stay within striking distance of the Championship with one round remaining.
“I was hoping for the win this time but I just didn’t get into the rhythm I was looking for,” Gardiner offered at the end of racing.
“The other girls were fast and rode well. I just have to get my act together for the final round in Melbourne.
“Enduro-X is so much fun. The crowd was awesome and I met so many great people in the pits. I can’t wait for Melbourne.”
Sherco also fared well in the Expert class with Jai Wedlock snaring 5th place in a hotly contested field. The young rider from Koo Wee Rup in Victoria is confident he can make another podium placing at round three after scoring third place at the Championship opener in Brisbane last Month.
“The last round is my home race so I really want to show my friends and family what I can do in Melbourne,” expressed an excited Wedlock in Sydney.
“My sponsors are all based in Melbourne so it would be great to repay them with a home-race result.” Wedlock said.
