The Yamaha MXstore Ballard’s Offroad Team is set out for another action packed season in 2020. The team will be participating in all major Offroad events across Australia and various overseas events. This will include the Australian Offroad Championship, The Australian Four Day Enduro, The Hattah Desert Race and much more!
After an extremely successful season in Australia and overseas Jess Gardiner will continue to fly the flag in the Women’s class. While Jeremy Carpentier whom also had a strong 2019 season will continue to perform in the Pro men’s category.
With minimal changes in Team sponsors there will be a new edition to the team with Motorcycling Australia introducing for the very first time in Australian history, being an all Females Junior category into the Australian Offroad Championship.
It felt only natural for Jess Gardiner (team manager) being a female in this male dominated sport to assist in providing a junior girl with the resources to perform in the new class.
Welcoming Danielle Mcdonald from Parkes, NSW to the Yamaha MXstore Ballard’s Offroad Team. Danielle will be the first junior girl to have the opportunity to ride under the tent of a well developed and successful privateer team!
Gardiner explained, “I am extremely excited and motivated for our new project with Danielle. I have been coaching kids this year and love to be able to help and see them grow in the sport they love. We have quite a few girls coming through the junior ranks and it was from a handful of junior girls parents, whom pushed hard to have a class added into the championship and they succeeded.
I really hope many families get behind this and get their junior girls racing on a National Level. This gives so much room for confidence and growth from our young ladies, whom one day will take our place in the world stages continuing to show that Australian Girls are the strongest”.
Jess stated, “ It was definitely a tough decision to decide whom I would offer this opportunity too and with many great sponsors that have helped make it possible for me to be able to cater for this. I chose Danielle for the ‘total’ package and defiantly not because she is the quickest (mind you, this girl can ride a dirtbike!).
She is only 12 years old, has a great attitude, willing to listen and learn, presentable and can ride a motorcycle really well. Being so young we have time to be able to develop Danielle to our full potential and work closely beside her to pass on as much of our experience and knowledge in all aspects of motorcycle racing.”
The team is all now working hard in the off- season ready for the first race back. The first appearance for the Yamaha MXstore Ballard’s Offroad Team in 2020 will be at the Australian Offroad Championships, in Toowoomba on the 22nd/23rd February!
