Sherco, Ballards Motorex off-road rider, Jess Gardiner has claimed her fourth Australian Four Day Enduro (A4DE) women’s title taking out top honours with a total time of 2h55:03.238.

The 21 year old from Londonderry NSW, said it was extremely close between her and ISDE team mate Tayla Jones but was happy she managed to bring home the title – her first for Sherco Australia.

After an outstanding result in the prologue where she was seeded first and 54th outright, Gardiner went into day one of the competition knowing the grassy tracks were more suited to her rival’s riding skills. The pair battled it out over the day and saw Gardiner finish a mere three seconds behind Jones with a time of36:33.320.

Day two of the competition saw Gardiner shine in the full enduro terrain track and finish with a 28 second lead with a total time of 1:15:36.130.

“That lead was a good buffer but I knew I still had to keep working at it to stay upright.” Gardiner said.

Conditions on the final day of racing saw the pressure mount for Gardiner where the rough conditions were especially suited to the Londonderry local’s riding style and saw her progressive lead increase to 50 seconds and finish the day with a time of 51:04.858.

“The final moto is always the biggest adrenaline rush of the week because everyone is watching and the atmosphere is electric.

“At the start of our race Tayla and I were battling pretty hard, almost handle bar to handle bar but we were red flagged after the first lap because some of the riders got injured.” she said.

At race restart, things took a turn for the worst with Gardiner washing out her front wheel and crashing. Set back in last place, she began working her up through the pack to finish second and secure the overall women’s championship title.

“In the end, I’m really stoked to have another win especially because it’s my first on a Sherco and even more amazing to have all of my family and friends there to share it with.

“A big thank you to all four of my parents (step parents too) for being there to support me and cheers to the Oyster Bay MCC for refuelling me on the out controls. It was great to have some of my major sponsors at the event to cheer me on too.” Gardiner said.
